What It’s Like to Be Photographed by Me: Emotional, Intuitive, Soulful Wedding Photography in Wilmington, NC (and Beyond)

What It’s Like to Be Photographed by Me

I don’t shoot from a checklist. I don’t pose you like strangers. I don’t overthink.

I feel.

When I photograph a wedding, I tune into the room—the energy, the emotions, the moments happening in between the “important” ones. I’m not just observing your day; I’m feeling it with you. It’s not a conscious, calculated process. Photography flows out of me naturally, like breath. I don’t stop to analyze my settings. I don’t stress about perfection. I move with intuition, led by emotion, and let the camera follow.

This is more than photography. It’s memory work. It’s soul work.

I Photograph What It Felt Like

Your wedding is a living, breathing experience. You’ll never get it back exactly as it was. So I don’t try to stage or manufacture moments—I document what’s really happening, from a place of deep emotional presence. Your photos won’t just show you how it looked; they’ll show you how it felt to be there.

• The nervous breath before you walk down the aisle.

• The weight of your partner’s hand in yours.

• The electric, quiet moment just after your vows.

• The chaos, the stillness, the joy, the tears.

• The way the light fell, the breeze moved, the laughter echoed.

That’s what I’m chasing. And that’s what I deliver.

Intuitive, Emotional, and Personal

Working with me is deeply personal—because I invest in who you are. Not just as a couple, but as people. I’m not here to “get content” or check off a Pinterest board. I’m here to witness, to honor, and to see you.

I often hear from clients that I felt more like a friend or grounding presence than a vendor on their wedding day. I blend into the room, move softly, and let the moments unfold. I don’t direct unless you need me to. I don’t make you perform. You get to be fully yourselves—and I’ll show you just how beautiful that really is.

A Mix of Nostalgia + Editorial Storytelling

Visually, my work is a mix of:

• Documentary-style candids: raw, real, emotionally charged.

• Editorial-inspired portraits: cinematic but never stiff.

• 35mm film + digital: nostalgic, timeless, imperfect in the most perfect ways.

Think: sunlight streaming through a window, a grainy shot of your friends dancing barefoot in the grass, a quiet portrait that looks like it belongs in an old European film.

For Couples Who Feel Deeply

If you’re someone who feels deeply…

If you value connection over perfection…

If you want your photos to bring you back to the feeling of your wedding day, not just the visuals…

Then we’re probably meant to work together.

You deserve wedding photography that honors the truth of your day—not just how it looked, but how it lived in your body.

I’m based in Wilmington, NC and travel often for weddings across North Carolina, South Carolina, and beyond. Whether you’re planning a backyard ceremony, a mountaintop micro wedding, a beautiful destination elopement, or an artful celebration in Ireland—I would be honored to document it.
